21+ holiday show with three Minneapolis bands playing garage rock, power pop and indie rock at The Hook and Ladder.
The Silverteens, Mary Strand & The Garage, and The Hell and the Quiet are playing The Hook and Ladder Event Center on Friday, December 4, for a night of garage rock, power pop, and indie rock. It's a three-band bill of Minneapolis acts, and the night is built around the release of Mary Strand's new album, I Wanna Believe.
Mary Strand & The Garage play a punk-garage-power-pop mix, and they cite Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, the Ramones, the Bangles, the Pretenders, the La's, and the Go-Go's as influences. I Wanna Believe follows their previous two records, Golden Girl (2023) and I Don't Need Your Permission (2025). The Silverteens are a garage/power-pop outfit whose members have been mainstays of the scene since the late 1970s and early 1980s; they began focusing on original material in 2022 and released a self-titled LP in November 2023. The Hell and the Quiet are a four-piece rock 'n' roll band from Minneapolis. Joining them as special guests are Ted Hajnasiewicz, Sarah Morris, Amanda B. Perry, Katy Tessman, and Doyle Turner.
The Hook and Ladder is an independent, artist-driven, multi-use event center housed in the historic Firehouse #21 in South Minneapolis' Longfellow neighborhood. The night is 21+.
