Indie-folk songwriter Pieta Brown performs with her band, with special guest Courtney Hartman.
Pieta Brown returns to The Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday, November 28, this time bringing her own band with her. It's a homecoming of sorts for the indie-folk songwriter, and she's not coming alone: the night features special guest Courtney Hartman opening the bill.
Brown is playing with a full band for the occasion, and the lineup is a local one. Joining her on stage are S. Carey, Mike Lewis, and Jeremy Ylvisaker. Carey is a name many around town will recognize from his work with Bon Iver; Lewis and Ylvisaker are both well-known fixtures in the Minneapolis music scene. With them, Brown's songwriting gets a full-band treatment rather than the more stripped-back arrangements she's often known for.
Courtney Hartman opens the night, so you'll get two songwriters in one evening. Brown's set follows, with her band filling out the sound. The whole thing is billed as a seated, all-ages show, which makes it an easy one to bring along younger listeners if you're planning a family night out.
