Annual all-star tribute to Tom Petty with Gregg Hall, Chris Castino, Dan Israel, Trent Norton, Tim Carrow and Noah Levy.
Petty Comes Alive returns to The Parkway Theater on Friday, November 27, for its fifth year. It's an all-star tribute to Tom Petty, put together by a rotating cast of singers and players from across the region rather than a single tribute band. The set pulls from Petty's whole run—The Heartbreakers, his solo work, and The Traveling Wilburys—and the organizers describe it as a tradition that stays true to the riffs, parts, and feel of the original recordings.
The lineup for this edition brings together a good cross-section of the local scene. On guitars and vocals are Gregg Hall, of Gregg Hall & The Wrecking Ball and White Iron Band; Chris Castino, from The Big Wu; and Dan Israel, of Dan Israel & The Cultivators. Trent Norton of The Honeydogs is on bass, Tim Carrow of God Johnson is on keyboards, and Noah Levy—who's played in both Hookers & Blow and The Honeydogs—is on drums. With three guitarists and vocalists sharing the front, there's plenty of room to cover the different eras of Petty's career in one night.
