A live orchestra performs Bear McCreary's score from Outlander, curated by Matthew B. Roberts, with scenes from the series on a cinema-scale screen.
Outlander in Concert: Echoes Through the Highlands comes to the State Theatre on Thursday, October 22, 2026. It's a live orchestral performance of Bear McCreary's score for Outlander, paired with scenes from the series projected on a cinema-scale screen. The music is performed by a live orchestra and a full ensemble of musicians and vocalists playing traditional Scottish instruments, including bagpipes, fiddles, and the hurdy-gurdy.
The show is an officially licensed experience celebrating the music and moments of the series across eight seasons. It was created in collaboration with showrunner Matthew B. Roberts and Emmy Award-winning composer Bear McCreary, who wrote the score. The scenes on the large HD screen are curated to run alongside the music, with dialogue-light highlights that let you relive the story of Claire and Jamie. The whole thing is presented by GEA Live and Sony Pictures Television.
McCreary's work has a reach of its own: the theme Outlander - The Skye Boat Song has more than 49 million plays, and the soundtrack is the best-selling title in Sony Pictures Television's catalog. The series itself is based on Diana Gabaldon's novels, which have sold an estimated 50 million copies worldwide, and stars Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan.
