Other Country Ensemble plays traditional music from the northern Mediterranean, with special guests Áit Ait, at the Bryant Lake Bowl & Theater.
Other Country Ensemble returns to the Bryant Lake Bowl on Wednesday, November 11, for another World Music Night, this time with special guests Áit Ait, an experimental folk duo. The ensemble is made up of veteran Twin Cities musicians playing traditional music from the northern Mediterranean—Spanish Sephardic, Greek, and Turkish—alongside original compositions inspired by the region. Between the songs, they share stories that trace the music's history back to 711 A.D.
World Music Night is a recurring fixture at the Bowl, and this particular evening pairs the ensemble's Mediterranean repertoire with Áit Ait's experimental folk. The two acts share the same bill, with the ensemble taking the lead.
The venue is the Bryant Lake Bowl & Theater, a Minneapolis spot known for its intimate room of about 85 seats and a 9' x 22' stage. It's a community hub where theater and live music blend, and the theater is attached to the restaurant, so you can pair the show with food and drink. The stage has hosted acts like Dan Wilson, The Civil Wars, Jeremy Messersmith, and Soccer Mommy.
