Chris Koza presents his 18th studio album with special guests Dylan Hicks and Clover and The Bee.
Chris Koza brings his new album, Millsmoke On The Skyline, to The Parkway Theater on Friday, October 16, with special guests Dylan Hicks and Clover and The Bee. It's his 18th studio record across his solo work and his band Rogue Valley, mixed by John McVey and mastered by David Glasser, with vocals from Colorado songwriters Megan Burtt and Monica LaBonte. The songs draw on 20th-century wordsmiths like Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and Joni Mitchell, and the lyrics reference rural farming and industrial communities throughout Minnesota. Koza moved to Colorado in 2022 and now performs both solo and with Rogue Valley.
He's been an Americana artist since 2005, and over the years he's supported songwriters like Gordon Lightfoot, Patty Griffin, Brandi Carlile, Lucinda Williams, and Andrew Bird. His music has appeared on ABC's General Hospital, 60 Minutes, and Good Morning America, and the song "The Wolves and the Ravens" was featured in Ben Stiller's film The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.
Opening the night is Clover and The Bee, a group that grew out of the song-swapping of three Minneapolis-area writers—Becky Schlegel, Anthony Ihrig, and Eric Christopher—who gathered misfit songs at Christopher's house in Saint Paul before bassist Kevin Rowe joined them. Dylan Hicks also appears on the bill.
