Crooners Supper Club tribute show in which Mick Sterling and his band play the songs of Huey Lewis and The News.
Mick Sterling brings a tribute to Huey Lewis and The News to the Main Stage Showroom at Crooners Supper Club on Sunday, October 18. It's part of the Heart & Soul series, and the set focuses on the songs of Lewis and his band, whose sound is described as a clever blend of influences—among the most clever of any rock and roll group.
Sterling doesn't do this as a solo act. He's backed by a full band: Charlie Peterson on keys, Steve Vonderharr on harmonica, David Young and Max Krauth on guitar, Patrick Nelson on bass, and Zach Miller on drums. A horn section rounds it out, with David Foley on sax, Jeff Gottwig on trumpet, and Jim Hann on trombone, plus Kevin Jackson and Arnise Roberson on background vocals. With that many players on stage, the arrangements have plenty of room to breathe.
Sterling is a familiar name in the Twin Cities music scene, where he's been active for nearly four decades. He's a recipient of the Minnesota Music and Midwest Music Hall of Fame, so he's not exactly a newcomer to the local stage. The show is presented by Crooners, and it's open to all ages.
