Jazz pianist and composer Mary Louise Knutson leads her trio through original compositions at the Berlin jazz club.
Mary Louise Knutson brings her trio to Berlin on Thursday, October 22, for a night of her own compositions. She's a jazz pianist and composer who's spent years working across the local scene, and this set is built around her original writing. The trio features Knutson on piano, Dan Carpel on bass, and Greg Schutte on drums.
If you're coming to her from her records, her latest trio album, In the Bubble, charted in JazzWeek's Top 10. Outside of leading her own trio, she's a frequent freelancer with area vocalists like Connie Evingson and Patty Peterson, and she plays in the JazzMN Orchestra, Minnesota's premiere big band, as well as the Minnesota Orchestra. From 2010 to 2018, she toured nationally with trumpeter Doc Severinsen, the former bandleader for the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson.
