Improvisation night inspired by David Lynch's worlds, with Paul Hecht on keys, The Nunnery on vocals and live loops, and Caroline Davis on alto saxophone.
Paul Hecht brings Lost Highway to Berlin on Thursday, October 29, for an improvisation night built around the visual and aural worlds of David Lynch. It's a three-person ensemble working without a set list, and the whole thing is framed by D. Untethered setting the mood on the ones and twos.
On the keys is Paul Hecht, and he's joined by The Nunnery on vocals and live loops and Caroline Davis on alto saxophone. The three of them are improvising together, so the music is made up in the room rather than pulled from a rehearsal. The Lynch reference isn't just a title—the night is inspired by the specific atmosphere of his films, and D. Untethered keeps that mood running through the set from the decks.

If you're not familiar with the room, Berlin is at 204 N 1st St in the North Loop. It's mostly seated, with only a handful of standing-room spots, so it's the kind of night where you're meant to sit and listen rather than work the crowd. The music starts at 7 PM and runs until 9:30 PM, and tickets are $22 general admission.
