Ten-piece swing and jazz band Lizzy & The Triggermen play 1930s swing at The Dakota jazz club on Nicollet Mall.
Lizzy & The Triggermen play The Dakota on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 7 PM. They're a ten-piece swing and jazz band from Los Angeles, and they're coming to Minneapolis to do exactly what they're known for: reviving 1930s swing.
At the front is Lizzy, a classically trained singer who's drawn praise from LA Weekly and Good Day LA. Behind her is a full horn section, which gives the group its big band sound. They've spent their time in LA selling out rooms like The Wiltern, El Rey, and The Troubadour, and NPR has described the sound as "one part Eartha Kitt, one part Ella Fitzgerald, one part Amy Winehouse." If you're familiar with those names, you've got a good handle on the territory they cover—the sophisticated phrasing of the jazz greats mixed with a bit of that soulful, gritty edge.

The Dakota is a jazz club and restaurant on Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis that opened in 1985. It holds between 250 and 350 people, and it's one of the few spots in the Twin Cities that pairs a full, chef-driven menu with world-class music, so you can make a meal out of the evening rather than just grabbing a drink. The show starts at 7 PM on Thursday, November 5, at 1010 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55403.
