Late-night lounge session where Shannon Blowtorch, a Minneapolis dance-floor resident, experiments with rare cuts.
Shannon Blowtorch takes over Berlin on Saturday, October 24, for a Late Night Lounge session. If you've spent any time out on the city's dance floors, the name is probably already familiar. Blowtorch is a staple of the Minneapolis music scene, one of those figures you run into across a fair number of the city's rooms.
This night is a bit of a departure from the usual. On a rare evening, Blowtorch steps away from the dance-floor residencies that make up most of the work and uses the time to experiment with cuts that don't normally make it into the set. It's the kind of night a DJ takes when they want to play the records they don't usually get to touchβthe deeper cuts, the oddities, the things that might not fit the energy of a peak-hour room but still deserve to be heard.
Because it's a Late Night Lounge session, the music is the whole point. There's no opening act to work through; Blowtorch is the only name on the bill, and the set runs late into the night. It's a good chance to hear a local regular dig into the parts of a collection that usually stay on the shelf.
