A local musical celebration and fundraiser for the Lake Street Council with live music, dancing, and a raffle.
The Lake Street Council is bringing back its annual musical celebration and fundraiser, the Lake Street Bash, on Tuesday, November 10, at Icehouse. It's a night of live music and dancing, and every dollar raised goes directly to the Council's ongoing work.
The Council has been around since 1967, a nonprofit whose mission is to keep the Lake Street corridor vital through business and community partnerships, with a focus on revitalizing the area. The Bash is their way of saying thank you to the business owners, volunteers, and neighbors who have stepped up for the community, especially through its hardest moments. This year, the event moves to Icehouse to celebrate the unification of Lake Street and its sister Eat Street, ahead of the reopening of Nicollet Avenue. The night is billed as a celebration of Lake Street as the "heartbeat of our community."
The lineup covers a lot of ground in one evening. MC Lisa Evanson keeps things moving, and the music runs from the jazz duo of Kavyesh Kaviraj and Omar Abdul-Karim to the Somali Museum Dance Troupe. Jeremy Messersmith and Dessa round out the bill, so you'll hear everything from jazz and dance to the songwriting of two of the city's most recognizable names. There's also a raffle in the mix.
