Grammy-winning folk-rock duo Indigo Girls play the State Theatre with special guest Linda Perry.
Indigo Girls are playing the State Theatre on Wednesday, October 21 and Friday, October 23, with Linda Perry as special guest. The duo is Emily Saliers and Amy Ray, and they've been at this for four decades now. They started out playing clubs and bars around their native Atlanta before signing to Epic Records in 1988, and their self-titled major-label debut sold over two million copies, driven by the singles "Closer to Fine" and "Kid Fears." That was the first of six consecutive Gold and/or Platinum-certified albums.
Across sixteen studio albums, they've sold more than 15 million records and have spent their career blazing a trail for Queer artists in the mainstream. Their latest record, Look Long, is a heartfelt, eclectic collection they recorded with their strongest backing band to date. The two nights at the State Theatre give you a couple of chances to catch them in the city.
Linda Perry opens both shows. She's a Grammy, Golden Globe and Critic's Choice Award nominee and a Songwriter Hall of Fame inductee who fronted 4 Non-Blondes before shaping the sound of P!nk, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Britney Spears, Adele, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus and James Blunt. She's also scored the documentaries Citizen Penn and Kid 90.
