Free, drop-in guided public tour of the Minneapolis Institute of Art exploring tradition and innovation in Native American art.
Minneapolis Institute of Art is running a guided tour called Celebrating Native American Art from Thursday, November 5 through Sunday, November 8, 2026. It's one of the museum's free, themed public tours that run Thursday through Sunday from 1 to 2 PM, and it's open to anyone who walks in—no registration required.
The tour focuses on the role of tradition and innovation in Native American art, walking through the museum's collection and looking at how those two things pull against each other. It's led by Mia Guides, the museum's volunteer docents, who take the group from piece to piece and talk through the work. If you're not one for a set route, the museum also runs In-Gallery Conversations from 1 to 3 PM on days when no public tour is scheduled. Those are a bit more open: guides station themselves in the galleries and invite visitors to look closely, ask questions, and let the artworks spark a conversation.
