Free guided tour of the Minneapolis Institute of Art exploring its collection of art by African American artists.
Minneapolis Institute of Art is hosting a guided tour focused on African American artists on Monday, February 1, 2027. The tour is part of the museum's free Public Tours program, which runs Thursdays through Sundays, and it's open to anyone who wants to join.
The tour takes you through the museum's expanding collection of art by African American artists. It's a guided walk, so you'll have a Mia guide leading the way and talking through the works as you go, rather than just wandering on your own. The whole thing lasts about an hour, from 1:00 to 2:00 PM.
It's one of several ways the museum handles its galleries. Alongside these tours, Mia runs In-Gallery Conversations, where guides are stationed right in the galleries and invite visitors to stop by, look closely, ask questions, and talk about the art on display. The guided tour is a bit different—a set path with a guide leading the group—but it's the same kind of access to the staff who know the collection inside and out.
