Free guided public tour at the Minneapolis Institute of Art exploring the dialogue between visual art and poetry.
The Minneapolis Institute of Art is hosting a guided tour called Art and Poetry on Thursday, April 1, 2027. It's one of the museum's themed public tours, which are free and open to anyone. The tour runs from 1 PM to 2 PM, so it's about an hour long.
The whole thing is built around the dialogue between visual art and poetry. You'll spend the hour moving through the galleries, looking at artworks and talking about how they connect to poetry, emotion, language, and the human experience. It's not a lecture you sit through; it's a guided exploration where you walk from piece to piece and have conversations in the galleries along the way.
If you've never done one of these, here's how it works: the guides meet at the Information Bar in the General Mills Lobby. From there, you'll get a museum map with pins that mark the specific artworks featured in the tour, so you can see exactly where you're headed. The museum is a tax-exempt nonprofit, and these tours are part of its public programming.
