Live jazz performance by the organ trio Fonville x Fribush at Icehouse, a 21+ event.
Fonville x Fribush play Icehouse on Wednesday, October 21, their first Minneapolis date since their collaboration launched. It's a pairing of drummer Corey Fonville, a founding member of Butcher Brown, and organist Sam Fribush, whose main instrument is a vintage 1957 C3 Hammond Organ. They've billed themselves like a 1990s hip-hop link-up, and they describe their sound as pushing the organ trio into a younger, blue-collar jazz style. For this show, they're joined by special guest Morgan Burrs on guitar.
They're touring in support of the new album Blue Collar Jazz, out now (https://ffm.to/bluecollarjazz).
That guitar spot is a rotating one. Over the last year, they've worked with Charlie Hunter and Alan Good Parker, and Burrs takes over for this date. The set draws on their North Carolina and Virginia roots, with songs like "I Couldn't Love You More" and "Blue Chips" in the mix. Fonville has produced for artists like Ledisi and DJ Jazzy Jeff, and Fribush is regarded as one of the freshest young bandleaders working right now.

They've put out two records since they teamed up. The debut EP, R&B Organ Trio, featured Charlie Hunter and came out January 1, 2026. That was followed by the debut LP, What Day Is It, which featured Alan Good Parker and was released on vinyl via WarHen Records. Between the two, they've built out the repertoire they're touring now.
Doors open at 6 PM and the show starts at 8 PM. Tickets are $20 in advance and at the door. The show is 21+.
