Duluth singer-songwriter Elsa Krantz releases her debut CD with a full band, supported by the Nikki Lemire Quartet, in an 18+ show.
Elsa Krantz brings her debut album release to Icehouse on Thursday, November 19, playing with a full band. The record is self-titled, Elsa Krantz: Deluxe Edition, and this is the night she presents it live.
Krantz is a Duluth singer-songwriter, and she describes the songs as imagining a pre- and post-apocalyptic vision of a better world, drawing on her dreams at night and her local experiences by day. The record blends stripped acoustics, synth layers, blues inspirations, and rock and roll, and that full-band setup is what she's bringing to the stage for this release.
Opening the bill is the Nikki Lemire Quartet. Lemire works with modern pedal-harp techniques, looping, and electric effects, and she describes her sound as drawing on the folk bedrock of Joan Baez, the innovation of Joni Mitchell, and the pop stylings of Billie Eilish. Between the two acts, the evening moves from Lemire's harp-led opening into Krantz's full-band set.
