Concert by Eivør from the Faroe Islands, performing her new album TUNGL with special guest cellist Midori Jaeger.
Eivør plays Fine Line on Sunday, November 8, with cellist midori jaeger opening. It's a solo date for the Faroese singer, who's touring her new album, TUNGL, out October 16 on Nuclear Blast.
If you haven't come across her yet, Eivør is one of the more distinctive voices to emerge from the Nordic scene. She's originally from the Faroe Islands, and her work bridges ancient tradition and contemporary sound. You might recognize her voice from the soundtracks of The Last Kingdom and God of War, and she's opened for Heilung as a special guest on several tours. Critics describe her music as dark atmospheric rock, pulsing electronics, and primal vocals that move from a whisper to overwhelming power; Kerrang! noted she gave even the mighty Chelsea Wolfe a run for her money.
Opening the night is midori jaeger, a cellist, singer, and composer originally from Japan who writes emotive songs from the cello. Between the two, the evening leans into the textural and the atmospheric, with jaeger's cello setting the stage before Eivør takes over.
