Weekly open-stage drag competition where 18-and-over performers get feedback from a mentor and a lip sync battle, with a $500 cash prize at the cycle finale.
Drag Discovery Night returns to LUSH Lounge & Theater on Sunday, November 1, as part of the venue's weekly drag competition. The night is run by LUSH's show director, Luna Muse, and the format is an open stage: performers sign up to do a number of their choice in front of a local drag entertainer acting as mentor. That mentor gives immediate constructive feedback on the mic and picks the top two for a lip sync battle to decide the winner.
There's a fair bit on the line for the person who comes out on top. The weekly winner takes home $50 in cash, a $25 LUSH gift card, and a guest spot in the following week's LUSH-produced Saturday night show at 9:30 PM. Both the winner and the runner-up qualify for the cycle finale, where a $500 cash prize is up for grabs and the overall winner joins the LUSH cast for New Year's Eve. Entry is open to drag artists aged 18 and over, with a maximum of 20 performers per week.
For this particular night, Rose Nylon is the mentor on hand to give the feedback and pick the finalists. If you're performing, you'll be doing your number for her; if you're just coming to watch, you'll see the feedback happen live on the mic before the lip sync battle.
