Live electronic music show from the Discodesque series, with Kema and Pet Girlfriend playing at Disco Death Records.
Kema and Pet Girlfriend take the stage at Disco Death Records on Saturday, October 24, as part of the Discodesque series. Pet Girlfriend will be handling the music, working through techno, modular, and dancehall.
If you haven't come across Discodesque yet, it's a live-streamed performance with a live audience that spotlights local artists working with hardware, modular synthesizers, live instruments, and vinyl. The music runs across a wide range of electronic styles — ambient, house, techno, noise, and drum and bass — but the series also brings in live bands playing folk, jams, punk, and rock. The stream itself is fed through a visual modular synthesizer and related hardware, which glitches the signal to create an ephemeral experience for people watching from home, and it's broadcast live on Twitch.
Reilly Miller produces the series. He's a Minneapolis artist and producer who also runs DRKRM MPLS, an artist-led project dedicated to uplifting the analog arts in the city. This edition follows a show with Rakete, where Baher and Alexis brought the groove on vinyl. The venue, Disco Death Records, is a coffee and record store by day and, on occasion, a live-music room by night.
