Wordless guitarist and songwriter Delicate Steve plays 7th St Entry, the small room next to First Avenue, with support from Yellow Ostrich.
Delicate Steve plays the 7th St Entry on Monday, October 26, with Yellow Ostrich opening. If you're not familiar with the name, Delicate Steve is the stage name of Steve Marion, a guitarist and songwriter from Fredon, New Jersey, who works entirely without lyrics. He's built a reputation on making the guitar do the singing, and that's exactly what he'll be doing here.
He's played with a wide range of artists over the years—he's worked with Miley Cyrus and Paul Simon, played in Amen Dunes and The Black Keys, and has been sampled by Kanye West. His album Delicate Steve Sings was built around channeling iconic voices through his guitar, and his latest record, Luke's Garage, takes its name from a place he describes as one where creativity sparks in all directions and melodies splatter the walls. You'll hear that same instrumental approach live.
Yellow Ostrich opens the night. Their album Soft takes its name from a lyric they call a thesis for the entire record, so there's a clear through-line to what they're doing. Between the two, it's a bill of instrumental-led music, with Marion's guitar taking the lead for the headlining set.
