Holiday blues show with blues legend Cornbread Harris and Friends at The Hook and Ladder, for ages 21 and over.
Cornbread Harris is playing a holiday blues show at The Hook and Ladder on Thursday, December 17, with a rotating cast of friends joining him on stage. It's a night built around one of the Twin Cities' longest-running musical presences: James Samuel 'Cornbread' Harris, Sr., who's been playing blues, boogie-woogie, and rock 'n' roll piano for local audiences for roughly seven decades.
If you've never caught him, the resume is a good place to start. He opened for Elvis Presley and appeared on Minnesota's first recorded rock 'n' roll record alongside Augie Garcia. He's also the father of producer Jimmy Jam. Along the way, he's been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and received a Sally Award, and he still holds down weekly and monthly gigs across the Twin Cities—playing local venues, weddings, churches, and private events. This one is a holiday-themed set, and the 'and Friends' part of the bill means he'll be sharing the stage with other musicians throughout the night.
