Colin Hay, frontman of Men At Work, plays songs from Men At Work and his solo catalog with his full band, followed by DJ Jake Rudh.
Colin Hay is back at The Cedar Cultural Center on Monday, January 25, 2027, for the second of two nights in Minneapolis. He'll be performing with his full band, and the set pulls from two different eras: the Grammy-winning Men At Work catalog and his solo songbook. If you know the band, you know the songs he's talking about—"Down Under," "Who Can It Be Now?" and "Overkill" sold more than 30 million records worldwide and earned them a Grammy for Best New Artist. Those are the ones that usually get the room singing along, but the solo material takes up a good part of the night too.
Hay has been working on his own for a long time. He released his solo debut in 1985 and has put out twelve studio albums since. Rolling Stone called his solo work "witty, hooky pop," and NPR's World Café highlighted his "distinctive voice." His most recent solo record, Now And The Evermore, was recorded in Los Angeles with Ringo Starr on drums.
Outside of the music, he's a bit of a raconteur. He's toured with Ringo Starr & His All-Star Band, appeared as himself on Scrubs, voiced Fergus Flamingo in Disney's The Wild, and starred in the documentary Waiting For My Real Life. That storytelling side usually comes through on stage, so the set is as much about the stories between the songs as the songs themselves.
