Folk singer-songwriter Carsie Blanton performs at The Cedar Cultural Center, backed by a road-tested band.
Carsie Blanton plays The Cedar Cultural Center on Saturday, May 1, 2027. She'll be backed by a road-tested band, and the set focuses on hope and solidarity.
Blanton is a songwriter and radical folk artist working in the tradition of Woody Guthrie. Her melodies are infectious and her lyrics have a sharp wit that draws on vaudeville, campfire singalongs, and punk rock. It's folk music with a bit of a bite to it.
She's also a political organizer and activist. In autumn 2025, she took part in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a direct-action sailboat mission to bring humanitarian aid to Gaza, and was imprisoned in Israel for five days. The song "The Little Flame," recorded with the Irish band Ye Vagabonds and her prison-mate Rana Hamida, appears on her album The Red Album Vol II. She continues her organizing work with Artists Against Apartheid and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
