Celtic punk band Boiled In Lead play the Dunsmore Jazz Room at Crooners Supper Club with their new album 'King of the Dogwoods'.
Boiled In Lead play the Dunsmore Jazz Room on Saturday, October 31, for a show they're billing as a farewell. It's their debut in the room, which is an 87-seat space inside Crooners Supper Club that houses a baby grand piano and looks out over Moore Lake. The set runs from 5 PM to 6:30 PM, with doors opening at 4 PM for dinner and drink service.
They're playing from their new studio album, King of the Dogwoods, which blends heavy noise, a cappella vocals, and world music from Ireland and Serbia. Americana Highways writer John Apice called it one of the year's best albums. The band describes their sound as country music from many countries played with power and emotion, and they work a wide range of instruments across extreme dynamics.
On stage, the lineup is Todd Menton on vocals, guitar, mandolin, bodhrán, and whistle, Drew Miller on bass and guitar, and Morris Engel on drums. They're billed as the longest-running Celtic punk band in America and a foundation stone of what became Minnesota punk rock; their star still hangs on the wall at First Avenue, dating back to their first 7th Street Entry show in 1983.
