Body Heat! Live Band Burlesque Funk Show

Bessie Snow and Volstead's Emporium are putting on Body Heat at Volstead's Emporium Uptown on Thursday, October 22. They're billing it as an evening of "Hot Funk & Brazen Tease" celebrating PRIDE, with a cast they describe as the sexiest and most talented group of queers from the Twin Cities. A portion of the proceeds goes to community aid that serves the queer community.

The whole thing is built around a live band of first-rate players—horns, drums, and bass—whose funky grooves lean on wailing horns, snapping drums, and a bumping bass. Burlesque performers add a hot mama jamma flare, and the room fills with craft cocktails. It's a live band and a burlesque cast working together in the same room, rather than a DJ set with dancers on top.

Volstead's Emporium is Minneapolis's hidden speakeasy, a room that also plays open-mic comedy, live jazz, classic burlesque, and touring musicians. Body Heat fits right into that mix. The show runs from 8:30 PM to 11:00 PM, and there's no cover charge.
