Free hands-on workshop for adults to design an analog poster as a social media profile, part of the Walker's Free Thursday Nights Art Club series.
Art Club is back at the Walker Art Center on Thursday, November 5, for a poster design workshop in the Art Lab. The session runs from 5 to 8 PM, and the galleries stay open until 9 PM, so you can hang out and look around before or after you make something.
This one takes the social media profile and reimagines it as an analog collage. Instead of scrolling through a feed, you'll be cutting and pasting your own version of a profile by hand. The idea was inspired in part by the Walker Design Triennial: Beyond Materialism, and the session is led by Walker educators. It's designed for all skill levels, from seasoned artists to beginners, and it's offered in both English and Spanish. Sophia Reed, manager of public engagement, says many people appreciate the chance to step away from their phones and make something with their hands—which is exactly what this does.
Art Club is the Walker's free Thursday-night series for adults, built around creative experimentation and community. Over the last four years it's grown into a weekly artistic adventure, with projects ranging from acrylic painting and ceramics to zines, cosplay and music sampling, often featuring local guest artists. The whole series is part of Free Thursday Nights, whose late-open galleries and Art Lab programs are sponsored by the Pohlad Family Community Engagement Fund.

It's free to attend, and you don't need a ticket or prior registration. Materials are provided on a first-come, first-served basis, and both space and supplies are limited, so it's worth getting there early. The workshop runs from 5 to 8 PM in the Art Lab, and the galleries stay open until 9 PM.
