The Danish folk trio Stundom blends Nordic traditions with classical chamber music in an immersive concert as part of The Cedar's Global Roots Series.
Stundom play The Cedar Cultural Center on Wednesday, March 10, 2027. The Danish trio is coming to Minneapolis as part of The Cedar's Global Roots Series, and the show is open to all ages.
On stage are Emma Kragh-Elmoe on violin, Villads Hoffmann on cittern, and Julian Svejgaard on piano. Together they play what they call New Nordic folk music, which draws on the traditional dance music of their ancestors and blends it with classical chamber music and modern symphonic elements. They describe the result as a "towering new standard for Nordic folk music."
The name Stundom comes from an old Nordic word meaning "from time to time," a reflection of the trio's mission. They've been nominated for the Danish Music Awards Roots/Folk several times, including Artist of the Year and Album of the Year in 2024 and 2022, and each member was nominated as Composer of the Year in 2022. They've appeared on BBC Scotland, BBC Alba, TG4, and BBC Radio 3, and have played festivals like Roskilde, Celtic Connections, Tonder, Het Lindeboom, and Folkelarm.
