Joshua Burnside, a Northern Irish folk singer-songwriter, performs live at The Cedar Cultural Center as part of the Global Roots Series.
Joshua Burnside plays The Cedar Cultural Center on Thursday, October 15. He's a Northern Irish folk singer-songwriter and producer based in Belfast, raised between Strangford Lough and East Belfast. His music blends Irish and Scottish folk with Americana, sound collage and electronica, and he's been cited alongside artists like Bon Iver, Lankum and Richard Dawson. If you're trying to place the sound, the listening recommendations are Nick Drake, Tom Waits and Elliott Smith.
Burnside's debut album, Ephrata, won awards and drew on Irish folk, cumbia rhythms and electronica. His second, Into The Depths Of Hell, took a darker turn and earned support from UK and US national radio and outlets like NPR, Guitar Magazine, CLASH, The Guardian and The Times. His fourth album, It's Not Going To be Okay, was written after the death of his close friend Dean Jendoubi.
