Duo Andalus brings together Andalusian, Sephardic, and Middle Eastern music with Lala Tamar and Ofer Ronen as part of The Cedar Cultural Center's Global Roots Series.
Duo Andalus play The Cedar Cultural Center on Sunday, November 15, 2026, from 7:30 to 10:30 PM. The duo consists of vocalist Lala Tamar and multi-instrumentalist Ofer Ronen, and their set pulls from three distinct musical traditions: Andalusian, Sephardic, and Middle Eastern.
That's the core of what they do. Rather than sticking to one region, Tamar and Ronen bring those three traditions together in a single evening, with Tamar on vocals and Ronen handling the instruments. The Andalusian side points toward the southern coast of Spain; the Sephardic side reaches back to the Jewish diaspora of the Mediterranean; and the Middle Eastern side pulls from the sounds of the Levant and beyond. When you hear them, you're hearing those three lineages running through the same set.
The show is part of The Cedar's Global Roots Series, a year-round program that brings in artists from across the world. The series covers a wide range of styles—everything from cutting-edge rock, jazz, electronic, and hip-hop to the traditional folk music of global Indigenous communities. It's built around The Cedar's mission to promote intercultural appreciation and understanding through global music, and it's supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional support from the Marbrook Foundation and the Rosemary and Good Family Foundation. The series culminates in the Global Roots Festival, a free, family-friendly event that's been running for 15 years.
