A night of a cappella and jazz music from Cantus and We3 at The Quinlan Room in Dakota Jazz Club.
Cantus and We3 share a bill at The Quinlan Room on Sunday, November 15, for a night that brings together two very different ways of singing. The Quinlan Room is one of the spaces inside the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis, and this particular pairing puts a cappella and jazz on the same stage.
Cantus is the a cappella side of the evening. They're a vocal ensemble known for singing without instruments, so everything you hear from them comes from the voices themselves. We3 brings the jazz, and together they'll cover both styles in one show. It's a double bill that lets you hear how a vocal group and a jazz act hold their own in the same room.
If you're not familiar with either, it's a good way to catch both in one go. You'll get the vocal harmonies of Cantus and the jazz of We3, and because they're playing the same night, you can hear how the two styles sit next to each other. It's a Sunday night, so it's a bit of a different pace than a Friday or Saturday show.
