Concert by singer-songwriter Amythyst Kiah with special guest Buffalo Nichols at The Parkway Theater, presented by The Current.
Amythyst Kiah plays The Parkway Theater on Friday, November 13, with Buffalo Nichols opening. The night is presented by The Current and is open to all ages.
Kiah is a Tennessee-bred singer and songwriter who has spent the last few years carving out a space in Americana. NPR called her one of the genre's "young royals," and Rolling Stone described her as "one of Americana's great up-and-coming secrets." Her 2021 breakthrough album, Wary + Strange, made Rolling Stone's list of the 25 Best Country and Americana Albums of 2021. Her second full-length, Still + Bright, was produced by Butch Walker at his Nashville studio and marked her first forays into co-writing with punk legend Tim Armstrong, Sadler Vaden, and former Pentatonix member Avi Kaplan. She's also a member of the all-women-of-color supergroup Our Native Daughters, alongside Rhiannon Giddens, Leyla McCalla, and Allison Russell.
Opening for her is Buffalo Nichols, the moniker of Carl Nichols. He's been releasing music since 2021, and his contemporary take on the blues has landed him on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NPR's Tiny Desk concert series.
