Grammy and Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Allison Russell performs with special guest Autumn Nicholas on her In The Hour of Chaos tour.
Allison Russell plays First Avenue on Sunday, November 1, with Autumn Nicholas opening. It's a stop on her In The Hour of Chaos tour, and the show is presented by The Current and Carbon Sound.
Russell is a Montreal-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter, producer, author, actor, and human rights advocate. She's picked up a Grammy, a Juno, and Americana, SOCAN, and Folk Awards, and was shortlisted for the Polaris Prize. Her solo debut, Outside Child, came out in 2021, followed by The Returner in 2023, and she has a third album slated for 2026. Before going solo, she co-founded and toured internationally with Po'Girl, Birds of Chicago, and Our Native Daughters, and she's still active with OND. She's also a member of Joni Mitchell's Joni Jam.
Her work has taken her into some unexpected places lately. In 2024, she joined Hozier's Unreal Unearth tour, and their duet "Wildflower & Barley" earned her first Billboard Hot 100 entry. That same year, she made her Broadway debut as Persephone in Hadestown, starting in November 2024. Offstage, she curates the Once and Future Sounds set at the Newport Folk Festival and co-founded Love Rising, which has raised over $550,000 for LGBTQIA+ communities. For this show, she's partnering with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold goes to the ACLU.
