South Manchester AOS present their eighth pantomime, The Little Mermaid, at Z-arts, an all-singing, all-dancing ensemble piece set beneath the waves.
South Manchester AOS bring The Little Mermaid to Z-arts from 18 to 21 November, their eighth pantomime in as many years. It's their 2026 panto, and they're billing it as their biggest one yet — and their fastest-selling on record, so if you're thinking of going, it's worth getting your tickets sooner rather than later. It follows a run of sell-out shows, including Mother Goose, Robin Hood and Snow White, and their last panto took home Best Pantomime 2025 at the NODA awards.
It's an all-singing, all-dancing ensemble piece set beneath the waves in the mermaid princess's world of Woe Betide, with choreography, costumes and a same-coloured script. The script is by Barry Bentley, a northern dame, writer and director who's written the Z-arts panto since 2018. Among the roles are Prince Vince, King Neptune, the Sea Witch and the Sea Captain.
South Manchester AOS is a Manchester charity theatre company run entirely by volunteers, staging musicals and pantomimes around the city and raising money for Alzheimer's UK. The show is at Z-arts, in the former Zion building, which opened in 2000 and is the only UK arts centre dedicated to best-practice creative provision for children and families.
