A dance-theatre piece by Rambert and Factory International that transforms Russell T Davies' series into a story of love and survival set in 1980s London.
Rambert are bringing It's a Sin to The Hall, Aviva Studios from 16 to 27 February 2027. It's a dance-theatre piece that takes Russell T Davies' Channel 4 series and tells it through movement rather than dialogue. The story is set in 1980s London and follows Ritchie, Roscoe, Colin and Jill as they chase identity, connection and a life on their own terms, until the unfolding AIDS crisis changes everything. The whole thing is directed and choreographed by Rambert's Artistic Director Benoit Swan Pouffer, with Russell T Davies, the Pet Shop Boys and Glyn Fussell as executive producers.
It's a full-length production, around 110 minutes including an interval, and it's co-produced with Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff, Capital Theatres in Edinburgh, Sadler's Wells in London and Les Théâtres de la Ville in Luxembourg. The Manchester run is supported by the Colwinston Charitable Trust's 30th Anniversary Fund and Arts Council England's Incentivising Touring pilot. It's suitable for ages 15+, and the run here offers captioning, audio description and BSL interpreting.
