Musical comedy duo Flo & Joan return to the stage with a brand-new show, ruminating on what is music and how to be a band.
Flo & Joan are back at HOME on Thursday 19 November, their new show With Feeling playing as part of a run of more than 50 dates across the UK and Ireland. The duo are sisters Nicola and Rosie Dempsey, and they've built a name for themselves as a musical comedy act that doesn't quite fit into one box. They've appeared on Live at the Apollo, The Royal Variety Performance, and Comic Relief's Red Nose Day Live 2023, and they have their own comedy special, Alive on Stage, on Amazon Prime.
With Feeling works by taking another 'real band's' setlist and rewriting it as their own. Around that, they build a show that ruminates on a few questions: 'What is music?', 'How do you be a band?' and 'Is comedy?'. They deliver it in the sharp-tongued, deadpan style that's become their trademark — the kind of dry, understated comedy that lands because it doesn't try too hard to be funny.
They've picked up some strong reviews along the way. Rolling Stone called them 'truly exceptional', The Guardian named With Feeling the '#1 Comedy Show of 2024', and the Evening Standard pointed to their 'stiletto sharp' delivery. If you've seen them before, you'll recognise that same deadpan energy; if you haven't, that's a good place to start.
