A celebration of light, music and dance marking Diwali, the Festival of Lights, with Raga Symphony and dance.
Diwali Lights comes to The Bridgewater Hall on Monday 2 November, a celebration of light, music and dance marking Diwali, the Festival of Lights. It's built around the themes of light, hope and togetherness, and the evening brings together a wide range of performers under the direction of Dr Rakesh Joshi.
The music is led by Raga Symphony, who share the stage with Ramayan dances performed to live accompaniment. The vocal side of the night is where the different generations come together: the adult Indian choir Bharatiya Vrund Gaan joins the youthful energy of the Indian youth choir SHIVA, and both are joined by the Hallé Youth Choir. With the New Sinfonia also on the bill, it's a large ensemble on stage, with the choral and orchestral parts running alongside the dance.
