The multi-award-winning musical Chicago, set in the decadence of the 1920s, brings its sexy, sassy score to the stage.
Chicago is coming to the Manchester Opera House on 25 May 2027, bringing the multi-award-winning musical to the city. It's set in the razzle-dazzle decadence of 1920s Chicago, and the story follows Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer and housewife who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. From there, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate Velma Kelly by hiring the city's slickest criminal lawyer to turn her crime into sensational headlines.
John Kander and Fred Ebb created the show, with choreography inspired by Bob Fosse. The score includes 'All That Jazz', 'Cell Block Tango', and 'Razzle Dazzle'. Since its Broadway revival opened in New York in 1996, it's been seen by more than 35 million people, toured 38 countries, and played more than 36,000 performances worldwide. It's won six Tony Awards, two Olivier Awards, and a Grammy, and it's the longest-running American musical in both Broadway and West End history.
