An interactive, sensory Christmas show for young children featuring clowning, original music and festive magic.
A Very Messy Christmas opens at The Lowry on 23 December, running through to 3 January. It's an interactive, sensory show built for the very young, so if you've got little ones at home, this is one to keep on your radar for the break. It's got clowning, original music and Christmas magic mixed in, and it's designed to be something the kids can actually engage with rather than just sit and watch.
The story follows Eve, who likes everything calm, tidy and quiet. She's overwhelmed by the loud, chaotic and cold reality of Christmas, and the show plays with that contrast — the tidy world she wants versus the messy one that keeps crashing in. Things change when a mysterious box brings a tiny bit of the season into her home, and from there the story opens up.
It comes from the team behind Little Penguin's First Christmas and Little Bear and the Christmas Lights, so if you've seen their previous work, you'll have a good idea of what to expect. The sensory side is a big part of it, and the interactive elements mean the kids are part of the action rather than just watching from their seats. It's built for the very young, so it's a good shout if you're looking for something that won't leave them fidgeting.
