Over-18s immersive theatrical tour of women's lives in 18th-century London followed by a tutored gin tasting.
Women, Gin & 'Sin' takes over the Foundling Museum in Clerkenwell on Friday 6 November, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. It's a two-part evening that pairs immersive theatre with a gin tasting, and it's for over-18s only.
The first half is an immersive theatrical tour that walks through women's lives and the hidden feminist history of 18th-century London. After that, the night shifts to a tutored tasting of three different styles of gin and their related cocktails, with a welcome gin cocktail included to get things started. The whole thing is billed as a night of immersive theatre, women's stories, gin and 'sin'.
The venue adds its own layer to the mix. The Foundling Museum tells the story of the Foundling Hospital, Britain's first home for abandoned children, and the work of its founder Thomas Coram. It houses a nationally important art collection and the world's largest privately amassed collection of Handel memorabilia, and the charity's work for children continues today through the organisation Coram. The museum also looks at the contributions of the artist William Hogarth and the composer George Frideric Handel, both of whom were major benefactors of the institution.
