Free talk by AI leader Omar Mir, Baron of Thorntoun, with Dean Peter Todd on the reality of AI in the boardroom, launching the Technology Leader Speaker Series.
Omar Mir is coming to Imperial Business School on Tuesday 20 October for a talk titled How to succeed in the messy world of AI. It's a conversation between Mir and Peter Todd, the Dean of the Business School, and it kicks off the new Technology Leader Speaker Series, which brings tech leaders from across Europe and beyond to the South Kensington campus.
Mir is a heavy hitter in the field. He's an Advisory Board member and Visiting Professor of Practice at Imperial Business School, a King's Trust International Advisor on AI and Advanced Technology, and an International Board Member at World Wide Technology. He's also the Principal Benefactor and Founding Principal of the King's Trust International Campaign 'Generation Potential'. He built an $18 billion AI infrastructure business from scratch alongside the names you'll recognise — Google and Microsoft, and AI companies like Anthropic, AMD and OpenAI.
That's the experience he's drawing on for the evening. He'll be asking why most AI programmes fail, what actually happens when boards decide on major AI investments, which skills matter most, and what commercial pressures mean for technical integrity. It's less about the hype and more about the reality of AI in the boardroom. Joining him and Peter Todd are Anne Biondi Simonds, Founder & CEO of Muse System Enterprises, and Brian Gary, Co-Founder & CTO of Muse System Enterprises.
