Cinematic dining experience in which a multi-course menu of Southern comfort food is served in sync with the film Sinners, as a Halloween vampire-themed night.
Taste Film are bringing Sinners to Parlour in Kensal Rise, with sittings running from Monday 19 to Saturday 31 October. If you've never come across them, the format is pretty straightforward: you watch a film while a multi-course menu arrives at your table in sync with the action on screen. When something appears in the movie, it shows up in front of you. It's a bespoke cinematic dining experience, and this particular run is billed as an immersive Halloween one.
Sinners is the film on the screen, and the menu is built around its vampires. It's a spread of Southern comfort food that draws on the Deep South, blues music and folklore, so you're looking at crispy catfish, buttery cornbread, and pickled garlic margs. For dessert, there's Mississippi mud pie and bourbon-laced sweets, with homemade elixirs and smoky flavours running through the courses. The room has hosted brands like Le Creuset and Babybel in the past, so it's a polished setup rather than a rough-and-ready one.
It's a good fit for the Halloween window, especially if you're in the mood for something a bit more involved than just a cinema trip. The venue is Parlour, over in Kensal Rise (NW10 5LG), and the whole thing is rated 15, so it's not one for the kids. One practical thing to keep in mind: the venue isn't wheelchair accessible.
