UK premiere of Douglas Lyons' comedy about two exes who reunite for dinner and try to give their love a second chance after seven years apart.
Table 17 is at the Kiln Theatre from 17 to 24 October, the UK premiere of Douglas Lyons' award-winning comedy. It's a two-hander that follows Jada and Dallas, two exes who reunite for dinner and try to give their love a second chance after seven years apart. They spend the evening hashing out years of baggage over a single meal, so the whole thing plays out around one table.
Lyons wrote the play himself, and it arrives here after sold-out runs in New York and LA. It's produced at the Kiln in association with Jamie Wilson Productions and Mark Cortale, and directed by Zhailon Levingston. Levingston is a Tony Award winner who, at 27, became the youngest Black director in Broadway history when he helmed the show's Broadway production. This is Lyons' second play to get a major run; his debut, Chicken and Biscuits, was the second most produced play in the US in 2022-23.
It's been well received, with a 92/100 Show-Score across 63 reviews. It's recommended for ages 12 and up, runs with no interval, and comes with content warnings for swearing, frequent use of derogatory racial slang, and themes of infidelity.
