Freckle Productions' stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's children's book, with puppetry, songs, live music and movement, suitable for all ages.
Stick Man opens at Bloomsbury Theatre on 3 December 2026 and runs through to 3 January 2027. It's Freckle Productions' stage adaptation of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's children's book, brought to the stage by the same team behind Zog and Zog and the Flying Doctors. Directed by Sally Cookson with music by Benji Bower, the show is carried by a trio of actors and packed with puppetry, songs, live music and movement. The story follows Stick Man, whose morning jog turns into a misadventure: a dog wants to play fetch with him, a swan builds a nest around him and he even ends up on a fire. Critics have called it 'wonderfully exuberant and imaginative' (Time Out), 'zesty and delightful' (Independent) and 'more fun than you can shake a stick at' (Daily Mail).
The London run is suitable for all ages, and there are a few specific performances to keep in mind if you're planning around accessibility: a BSL performance on 13 December, an audio-described show on 20 December and a relaxed performance on 29 December. The show runs for one hour with no interval, so it's a manageable length for younger audiences. It's worth checking the dates carefully, though, as there are no performances on 7, 14, 18, 25, 26 and 31 December 2026 or 1 January 2027.
