Sam Eley brings his Edinburgh Fringe hit 'Soul Sewage' to the Soho Theatre as his comic character Basil Crumbwick.
Sam Eley returns to Soho Theatre as his comic character Basil Crumbwick in Soul Sewage, running from Monday 25 January to Saturday 30 January 2027. It's a run of six shows, all starting at 21:15, with doors opening about half an hour before.
Basil Crumbwick is a horny, embittered old man with a papier-mâché head. Soul Sewage is Eley's debut hour in the role, and it's billed as award-winning late-night villainy from an uncomfortable mind. The show was one of the buzziest late-night bookings of this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and it keeps that Fringe spirit by being staged as late as Soho Theatre goes. It runs for about an hour.
Eley won Sketch-Off 2025 and was a Leicester Square New Comedian of the Year finalist. Critics have called him a comic genius in a papier-mâché head, with some reviewers noting they were in danger of throwing up from laughing. An initial October 2026 run at Soho Theatre sold out, so this January return is a second chance to catch it if you missed the first one.

Tickets are £20 to £24, and the venue is at 21 Dean St, London W1D 3NE, near Tottenham Court Road station. With the 21:15 start, it's a late one, so keep that in mind if you're travelling back from the West End.
