Jazz concert by Ricky Ford Quartet, led by tenor saxophonist Ricky Ford, at the accessible venue World Heart Beat as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival Club Programme.
Ricky Ford brings his quartet to World Heart Beat Embassy Gardens on Sunday 15 November, as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival Club Programme. Ford is a Boston tenor saxophonist who played with Charles Mingus in the late 1970s, and since then he's built an expansive, eclectic discography collaborating with jazz luminaries like Roy Hargrove, Abdullah Ibrahim, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Stitt and Jaki Byard. He's a distinctive stylist with a commanding, majestic tone, known for his fierce intensity, boundless energy and fearless creativity on stage.
For this date, he's leading a quartet with Emile Hinton on piano and Conor Murray on double bass, with the drums still to be confirmed. It's a small group, so there's not much to hide behind — just Ford's tenor leading the way.
The gig is part of the EFG London Jazz Festival Club Programme, which means World Heart Beat is one of several venues hosting jazz across the city during the festival. The venue itself is fully accessible, so it's easy to get into regardless of how you move.
