Placebo play OVO Arena Wembley on their 30th Anniversary Tour, with their reworked debut album 'RE:CREATED'.
Placebo are playing OVO Arena Wembley on Saturday 5 December, part of their 30th Anniversary Tour. It's their first extensive UK tour since 2022, and their first London show since they played Shepherd's Bush Empire in 2024.
The tour marks three decades since the release of their self-titled debut album, and that record is the focus here. To go with it, they've released RE:CREATED, a reworked version of the ten original tracks from that first album, plus two new bonus tracks. They describe it as a 'director's cut' — they went back to the original master tapes and folded thirty years of playing those songs live back into the recording, with the aim of dragging the material into the 21st century while keeping the integrity of the original. It's a way of hearing the songs as they've evolved over three decades rather than just as they sounded when they first came out.
So, if you've followed them since the early days, you'll recognise the songs from that first record, but they're coming at them from a different place now. The set is built around that debut, and the tour is their first proper run around the UK in four years.
