UK premiere of the new dance work by Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos, with a company of ten dancers, followed by a post-show talk.
Christos Papadopoulos brings his new dance work, My Fierce Ignorant Step, to Sadler's Wells Theatre on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November, both nights starting at 7:30 pm. It's his first piece at the venue, and he's not alone on stage: he's working with a company of ten dancers.
There's a bit of a story to this one. Papadopoulos is a minimalist Greek choreographer who won The Rose International Dance Prize in 2025 with LARSEN C, and this is his first Sadler's Wells show since then. The company describes My Fierce Ignorant Step as an optimistic, extroverted and enchanting piece about passionate beginnings and the first times we met, laughed and lived. They talk about memories, sounds, voices and bodies resonating like musical instruments, building towards a shared exhilaration until movement becomes a song that pulses through the dancers and out to the audience. It's a 55-minute show with no interval, so it runs straight through.
If you can make the Friday night, there's a bit extra. That performance is the UK premiere, staged as part of Sadler's Wells Patrons' Night, and it's followed by a post-show talk with members of the company and the creative team in conversation with Sir Alistair Spalding. The talk is free to same-performance ticket holders and is BSL interpreted, so it's a good chance to hear the people behind the work talk through it properly after you've seen it.
