London premiere of Noga Flaishon's play about a technology company that sells people's memories as VR experiences, when the last Holocaust survivor becomes the subject.
Memoriam opens at Southwark Playhouse Borough on Thursday 22 October, running through to 21 November. It's a new play by Noga Flaishon, directed by Daniel Goldman, and this is its London premiere after a critically acclaimed US run at Main Street Theatre in Houston.
The story is set in a near future where a technology company can extract people's memories and package them as immersive VR experiences. Rachel works for that company, and the play kicks in when her grandmother becomes the last living Holocaust survivor. From there, the family has to decide who owns a life once it's been recorded. It's a heavy question to sit with, and the whole thing runs an hour and a half, with age guidance of 14+.
Beverley Klein takes the role of the grandmother, Rivka, and she's a name you'll recognise if you follow the West End: she was in the original cast of Les Misérables and got an Olivier nomination in 2025 for Fiddler on the Roof. She's joined by Rachel Barry as Rachel, Jimena Larraguivel as Becky, Ashley Margolis as David, and Ben Wiggins as Chris.

Before this run, the play had a staged reading at the Royal Court Theatre's Open Submissions Festival in 2025, where it was one of five chosen from 3,000 entries. It also made the shortlist for the Papatango Playwriting Prize, the longlist for the Verity Bargate Award in 2024, and was runner-up for the Jewish Playwrights Prize in 2025. Press night is Monday 26 October, and tickets start from £22.50. You'll find the play at Southwark Playhouse Borough, 77-85 Newington Causeway, London SE1 6BD.
